What Do You Wish For?

Because some days you just have to vent a little, here is my crabbyface wish list for a beautiful Tuesday in July.

I wish my dishwasher got the damned dishes clean. It is rapidly becoming just another cupboard. Argh.
I wish the downstairs of my house was as clean as I forced everyone to get the upstairs on Sunday night. If you come over, go directly upstairs. Do not look at the living room.
I wish I knew a great lawyer who worked for the good of his/her heart. Or, at least not 450 bucks an hour.
I wish a publisher would call me up and say "Hey, Lorraine, how's the book going, can I see something?". To which I would reply, "of course." (Then, I could probably find that lawyer....)
I wish I had a deeper understanding of the stock market, quantum physics, tree pruning and men.
I wish someone would invent something called The Wine Diet.
And potato chips. Wine and Potato Chips.
I wish my wee cat would realize that even though she likes to sit on the computer mouse as I work, it makes it very hard to work. And that work pays for her very expensive food.
I wish I cared more that so many of the things I want are shallow. Some days, I just want to not feel like a loser for not being able to save the world.

I don't care how 'shallow' that makes me.

    I wish he loved me.

  3. Not sure who #2 is addressing - if it's me, I'm just whining. If it's #1, they sound sad to me. And sad trumps whining, so #1, I wish he loved you too.

  5. Thank you. He'd never read postsecret, let alone post there. I thought I was too old and too smart to feel like this, guess not.

And now, I've burned a wish! It's just as I read that list of wishes, I realized that was my only one.

  7. I wish my in laws would disappear.

I wish I could overcome certain fears easier.

I wish I could not be afraid of what others do on a daily basis like it is nothing (flying, skydiving, etc)

  8. I wish people would not think I'm not scared every day of my life doing what I do. Doesn't matter what it is - people think I'm brave, and I'm terrified more often than not.

Don't underestimate yourself. Some of us just hide it better, is all.

  9. I wish, now that I'm middle-aged, that I hadn't wasted so many years worrying about what other people thought.

  10. I wish I was strong enough to leave my boyfriend. He's an idiot, and I know it, but I don't think I'll ever get another one. So I stay.

  11. to the last anonymous who needs to leave her boyfriend..
LEAVE - it'll be the best thing you ever do. Believe me, I left (20 years ago, feeling the same way you do) and I'm now happily married to a wonderful guy. Best lesson I ever learned - you will be treated the way you allow other people to treat you. You will get another boyfriend but get comfortable with yourself first and then you will draw a deserving person into your life. good luck.
