I Have Been Remiss...

Bad Blogger.

I've been busy. Spent the last couple of days letting Volkswagen spoil me in downtown Toronto and Niagara on the Lake. It was lovely. And stop frowning. It was work. I took that pic of the rose two nights ago...gorgeous. They plant roses at the ends of the rows of grapevines; the rose bloom in June, and depending on the condition of the flower, they can figure out if there are soil acidity problems and treat it before the grapes come in in September. See? Working....

I leave Sunday, early, for Nova Scotia. Flying to Halifax to toot around the province in an RV, much like last year's trek to the Yukon. If I can get some internet on the road and mooch a laptop, I'll post, but it'll be hit or miss. These trips can get totally out of hand, and journos have been known to wander off course...

In the meantime, go take a boo once more at these great pics from last year's trip. Nova Scotia promises to be just as gorgeous, but I still highly recommend our northern neighbours.

  1. Oh Lorraine, you lucky, lucky gal! You are going to LOVE the east. I was fortunate enough to spend every summer there as a kid ... my parents both hailed from the east coast and it always felt like going home to me.

The only thing more beautiful than the sights are the people.

    I hope you have a wonderful,safe trip!

P.S.: I also hope you have the opportunity to travel the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island!

  2. Nova Scotia!

I was there when I was a kid.

My Dad worked 2 miles down at Springhill, as did his Dad and his Dad.

Over in the Valley my Dad's Cousin was a pioneer in fruit tree grafting: apples, pears and peaches on the same tree! If you stop by Jackson's Orchards, tell em I sent ya!

  4. It would appear that Roz is suffering from a huge (... HUGE) problem with the 2009 grapes. Perhaps some... um... "other" acid leached into the ground.

Have fun in Scova Notia. If you go by The Whalesback (just north of Peggy's Cove) lay a flower at the memorial of Swissair 111. A friend of friends of ours was on the flight.

  5. Ms. Bad Blogger should have made arrangements for someone to fill in while she's tooling around down east.

She threatens to, but invariably something occurs and this notion fizzles.

Not that my opinion means anything -- especially here, but my vote lies with either of the remaining Twisted Sisters or WGJ.

Anyone else care to weigh in?

  6. WGJ is boring with many o's.

    Bring on the Twisted Sisters!

  7. oh I miss traveling. It sounds like you'll have a lovely time.

I've heard that the Halifax airport is the finest airport in the world and the envy of all other airports.

  8. The joy of having the teacher on vacation is you get to make rude and objectionable comments without fear of reprimand because you know NO ONE in the class will turn you in.

For a really good laugh have a look at Lorraine on a Segue in Toronto last week. If for some reason you can't work the link... just picture Bambi on a frozen pond.

    With a helmet on.

  9. don't worry, she'll be home soon. besides, it would be next to impossible to fill her literary shoes. DJW, don't piss off the WG - he can zotz you with one evil keyboard tap.

  10. I only 'zotz' for breaking the rules, not expressing opinions. Freedom of speech and all that crap.
